Membership Relations Adviser 

Location: Aberdeen

OGUK is the leading representative body for the UK offshore oil and gas industry with offices in London and Aberdeen. It is a not-for-profit organisation and its vision is to be the leading association within the UK offshore energy industry, ensuring the north sea remains an internationally attractive place to do business.  Its mission is to champion the UK offshore oil and gas industry, informing, engaging and advocating for the sector both as part of a diverse energy mix and as an enabler of achieving the UK’s climate change targets. Its role is to support all our members that operate in, or provide services to, the UK offshore energy industry.

We seek a Membership professional to fulfil the role of Membership Relations Adviser, reporting to the Senior Membership Relations Adviser as a key member of the organisation’s External Relations team.

Our ideal candidate will be professional, organised and customer focused with an understanding of membership/subscription organisations and customer service.

The role will include but not limited to:

  • Supporting the strategic recruitment of new OGUK members
  • Understand organisational activities to be clearly articulated to potential and current members
  • Lead the membership team’s social media activity working alongside key stakeholders
  • Showcasing member news stories through various forms of media
  • Provide member and industry content for our various media outlets
  • Attend internal and external events and exhibitions to engage with existing members and promote OGUK’s membership
  • Support the creation and development of compelling membership marketing materials working with the team to maintain accurate and up to date records in our Microsoft Dynamics CRM system
  • Work with stakeholders at OGUK to encourage a customer focused culture and value proposition

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant experience working preferably within a trade association or professional membership body
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering high standards of customer service
  • Ability to present and sell organisational values, objectives and services to potential members and stakeholders
  • Excellent knowledge of planning, administration, marketing and member relationship skills and techniques
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and be an effective networker

National Media Adviser (1yr Fixed term contract)

Its role is to support all our members that operate in, or provide services to, the UK offshore energy industry.

We seek an exceptional corporate communications professional to join a busy communications team as our National Media Adviser to develop the profile and protect the reputation of the UK Offshore oil and gas industry in the national media landscape in line with OGUK objectives, together with providing exceptional media and public relations expertise.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively across the organisation to proactively build good working relationships with national, international and regional media, becoming a trusted source of information on the UK offshore oil and gas industry.

You will work closely with the Communications team to pitch for and secure coverage in target outlets, with a responsibility for national and broadcast media, also acting as spokesperson where appropriate and supporting all other OGUK spokespeople with briefing and preparation as required.

The successful candidate will work with the Market Intelligence team, policy colleagues and members to develop compelling press releases, opinion pieces and case studies in line with agreed messaging and objectives
Excellent and versatile verbal and written communications skills, including speech writing and creating advanced presentations are essential. Candidates should be a first-rate communicator with an ability to identify newsworthy stories and communicate complex issues in a compelling and motivating way with experience in delivering successful media campaigns.
